A more wearable print clash…

My take on a simple print clash: Topshop top and skirt, Prada shoes and Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses.

Hey everyone and hope you’re all having a good start to the week! We’ve been in Dubai for about 6 weeks now and so far so good. It has taken us a little longer to settle into a routine, but we’ve met some great people and enjoyed embracing a new lifestyle. We just spent a weekend in Abu Dhabi and I’ll be sharing our stay at the lovely Ritz Carlton Hotel along with pics from a very special bloggers luncheon hosted by Dee For Dana on the site soon.
Todays post is all about clashing prints, which has become something of a norm with a Gucci girl leading the way with loud florals, glittery stripes and bright embroidery. I’m no stranger to mixing leopard spots or plaid with angular stripes, including this look that I styled last year, but I tend to keep it simple and wearable.
Lets be honest, some clashes are reserved for catwalk or street style fashionistas (although I’m sure some of you are bolder than I am!) so I decided on a more subdued and yet effective look. I mixed my new floral skirt from Topshop with a thin sailor stripe top and added my all time favourite block heels. The trick to a good combination is to pick pieces that work together in terms of shades and silhouettes. Here, the navy and black dominate but the neutral white tones help to break it up. Bright pops of colour on the flowers stop this outfit from looking one dimensional and the sparkle on the bag adds another texture. A clash without being to brash!
Are you no stranger to print clashing? Let me know your fave combinations below! xxx
I love this look a lot. I think stripes and floral prints can look incredibly stylish together and this look is the winner.

This skirt is so clever! Love how it can be two looks in one! Or three if you look at with both prints at the same time 😉

Very interesting skirt and it actually looks good. The clash is subdued and how you style it made it look nice.
