Undone glamour at it’s best
I’ve never been a fan of Valentine’s Day, but who can ignore an excuse to dress up – especially during these uncertain times when wearing heels feels like a momentous occasion.
As expected, February 14 will be an at-home affair but as a sucker for clichés, I’ll be embracing a red theme, be it with a lipstick or my outfit.
I’ve noticed that over the past few years I have moved away from bold hues and loud prints in favour of minimal dressing. With the past few months spent working from home, it’s fair to say that minimal has turned into casual to the point when getting ready doesn’t seem exciting to me.
So I’m using V-day as an opportunity to gently shift away from the muted ensembles into the direction of something brighter and cheerier. This is where Oscar De La Renta’s latest collection comes into play.
The Resort 2021 collection offers a relaxed yet elegant way of dressing. The gowns have given way to kaftans that you can stroll barefoot around in at home while the tailoring will ideal for the warmer months yet offer something for now when worn separately. The glamour remains, but it’s the chilled out on the sofa with a glass of champagne and NETFLIX kind of glamour.
As we gradually come out of this pandemic into a new world, perhaps its time we all add a bit of allurement and fun to our wardrobes and Valentine’s Day is a perfect time to do so.
