Turn gloomy Monday’s into fundays with a 9-5 wardrobe update…
Happy Monday everyone! I have a busy work week ahead as well as prepping for a blog shoot next week and our holiday the week after, mad rush but I can’t wait and you can follow all on my Instagram and Snapchat.
This look was all about making workwear fun, hence making work fun (hopefully). I have been lucky to freelance in magazines and websites where individual sense of style is encouraged and everyone can dress up as much or as little as they want. Working at ELLE UK hugely influenced my personal style and made me confident in my own sense of fashion. Of course in some industry’s the work uniform is a bit more strict but it doesn’t mean that you can’t play with lengths, textures or little details to bring a bit of you to the office.
This style of outfit compliments anyone and brings together some seasonal trends to give you an updated look. The navy hue is one of those very flattering shades and I love the style of these Topshop trousers – think narrow, mannish, cropped and lux fabrics. I wanted to lift it with pops of red and orange (this seasons florals are very office friendly) but you can always tone it down with a crisp white shirt or a 70s boho blouse. These Celine shoes are one of my favourite purchases of the summer (alternative at Mango) as the block heel makes them easy to wear all day. Otherwise opt for a good pair of patent courts or borrow from the boys and step out in this seasons chunky brogues.
You have to invest in a multitask bag for all your daily needs (can’t get enough of Anya Hindmarch), in my case a small makeup bag (touches up throughout the day necessary especially in the summer and a red lipstick is perfect for after work cocktails), Keihl’s hand cream, phone charger, oyster card, blister plasters, a Kindle, bottle of water, a notebook, purse and an umbrella for random bursts of rain in London. I would also suggest keeping some extra accessories in your bag that can take you from office look to dinner look in minutes, my favourites are a statement necklace and disc earrings from Marni.

Good tips! Working in an industry that lets you be a bit more creative is always better for your wardrobe but the more conservative environments can still spice things up a little too. You can also carry a funky lip shade or interesting jewelry sometimes for a day-night update.
