And it was all yellow…
For the past few seasons, I have actively avoided bold colour and loud prints in pursuit of a minimalist aesthetic. On one hand, I have a relatively easy wardrobe to style filled with timeless and neutral pieces, on the other hand, it can get a little boring.
I’m not saying I completely shunned anything beyond beige, navy, black and white – I still have red, pink and green dresses stashed away for the summer – but I have steered clear of investing in any vibrant hues.
This was before I stumbled across a blindingly yellow midi dress from ROKSANDA. The solid shade of sunshine yellow instantly put a smile on my face and then I thought if there was a year to pick up some cheerful clothing for the warmer months, it’s this year.
So I started browsing and it seems I’m not the only one to fall for this lemony hue. In fact, numerous online retailers have been expanding their yellow category and I can already picture Hyde Park decorated in ensembled of various tones of marigold as soon as the temperatures surpass 20 degrees Celcius.
Despite its bold demeanour, yellow is surprisingly an easy shade to wear. Flattering, happy and striking, it’s a tone you turn to when you need a mood booster, and who knows maybe you’ll cheer up a stranger as you stroll in the sunshine.
Easily diluted with blue and white, you don’t have to go head-to-toe to feel its zesty impact on your mood. You don’t even have to go bright, a pastel yellow shade is just as charming. But if I were you, I would go for it.
Here are some of my favourite yellow pieces to shop now.
