[dropcap]Welcome[/dropcap] back to Friday Focus where I bring you my favourite brands and share some of the top regional designers you need to get on your shopping list. All Things Mochi was one of the first labels that I discovered when I moved to Dubai. Their collections, handcrafted by artisans around the world in places such as Jaipur, Thailand and Spain, makes me smile and is ideal for days in the sun. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to founder and designer Ayah Tabari and you can shop my top picks at the bottom of this post.

  1. What has inspired the name All Things Mochi?

The name All Things Mochi came from the word Cobbler in Indian which the evolved to meaning mirrored embroidery also, I founded the brand when I was travelling in Goa so India was the main inspiration.

  1. Who is it designed for?

Mochi is designed for your boho chic girl, she is fun, happy but confident and sophisticated as well

  1. It has been hugely popular throughout the region and beyond, why do you think that is?

I think there was nothing like it in the region when I started, boho clothing wasn’t really to the Middle East’s taste and the looks I was creating could be dressed up or dressed down which really caught the markets eye. I was also one of the first designers here to start doing international press and wholesale to key stores including Shopbop, Moda Operandi so I think the media and consumer here were quite impressed by that.

  1. What collection are you working on at the moment?

I am actually working on my SS18 collection so stay tuned to find out where we are going on the Mochi Journey next.

  1. Is there anything about All Things Mochi that you wish everyone knew?

It is very humbling to know that everyone loves the brand but sometimes I wish people knew the sheer talent/ time that goes into each piece – we live in such a fast-paced generation and these things need to be appreciated. These artisans are so talented and I wish everyone knew how much each purchase contributes positively to increase their standard of living and monetary needs.

  1. The brand takes inspiration from around the world, which is your favorite destination?

I would have to say Jaipur as it is where the brand begun and I always go there, I am very close with the artisans I use there, they are almost like family.

  1. What is the standout piece from the latest collection?

Ooo that’s a difficult one, I love the pant set and the earrings – I’m obsessed with accessories so they are always by favorite!

  1. Best advice you’ve ever received?

A few things; work hard, it gets you places, follow your heart, don’t give it up even in the hard times and be vigilant as you have to know what is going on around you.

  1. Which regional designers are you loving at the moment?

I mean, I am very proud to be from this region as I feel it is producing some great talent but at the moment I would say Nathalie Trad is really making a stance for herself, not only in the region but also globally as well.

  1. What’s next for All Things Mochi?

You will have to wait and see, we have a big collaboration in the pipeline for next year having just wrapped Prints By Mochi for Topshop and we are heading to Miami Swim trade show in July which I am excited about – its go go go here!

Perfect day for exploring cute little pop up shops and cafes! Have a great Saturday everyone #ootd #fblogger #mydubai
