It’s an awkward pant length, but this fall it’s having an unexpected moment…
Can you believe it’s Monday again? Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was okay, the weather could’ve been better but it looks like we are going to have a sunny week! Spent a gloomy Sunday flicking through magazines and reading up on the upcoming trends and one of them is the cropped flare.
Flares have been huge this summer with everyone I know investing in the 70’s denim staple which will continue well into winter. But when the weather gets a bit damp no one wants to battle with damp hemlines making the cropped version not only stylish but more practical. As seen at AW shows like Prada, the cropped flare cuts just above the ankle for a fun tailored finish and the high waisted version help elongate the legs.
We are all familiar with cropped trousers, be it cigarette style worn with brogues or jeans just peeking over the ankle boot, but this new trend could prove more of a challenge as the hem is wider. My tip? Get the shoes right and the rest will follow. Here I opted for flat mules (alternatives from River Island) to go with my Topshop trousers (also loving Marques Almeida), but block heels sandals, sneakers or mid heel ankle boots would work equally well. I decided to add some volume on top to balance out the shape but you can also try a fitted structured top (or Stella McCartney), a roll neck and to complete the look this winter invest in a boxy jacket.
How would you style this trend? Let me know in the comment box below! x
Such a great look!

Looks great on you! I feel like since I’m short, this trend wouldn’t be the best for me. But it definitely sounds good for a rainy day.
