I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting old or the fact that are so many amazing sneakers in shops, but comfort has never been more fashionable. This season the high heels are being swapped for kitten styles, while backless brogues and sneakers reign supreme.

I do love a good heel, but I always choose the block ones if I know that I’ll be walking or standing  for a long time. I remember at one event a girl was wearing Louboutins so high that her friends literally had to carry her to the car. Stiletto heels are salvation for my petite frame (especially if I can get my hands on these YSL ones) but you have no idea how happy I am that flats and trainers have become a number one choice at fashion weeks, so why not make them evening friendly?

My Dior trainers terrified my husband, he just didn’t get why I wanted to wear scuba diving shoes with sparkle on them, but I stood firm and comfortable and have not regretted them once. Of course these sneakers have been round the block for a few seasons now, but I have spotted many at evening events in Dubai and there are also some great new styles popping up online and in stores adorned in lace, embroidery, feathers and satin. If you’re petite framed like me I would opt for a slip dress over a sheer blouse or midi pleats, while the less vertically challenged would get away with maxi lengths. I have styled my Dior’s with a mini dress and Gucci sneakers with a pleated dress, but have also worn both with cropped flared trousers, white shirt and an evening blazer.
