Finishing touches.

I know it’s only the second week of August but I already have so many new beauty goodies that I wanted to share with you. So my skin has become slightly dry due to the UAE’s obsession with AC and to counter that I’ve been using the SK-II cellumination cream in the evenings. It gives skin a boost of hydration resulting in a fresh complexion.

One thing that has been crucial in my makeup bag is the Chantecaille Just Skin tinted moisturiser in Glow. The texture is amazing and it gives skin a dewy light finish while still providing enough coverage. For hiding blemishes I tend to add a bit of powder and a compact is always a good choice as you can take it with you. I’ve been using Max Factor Facefinity Compact Foundation in Ivory which provides enough coverage without feeling heavy.

I don’t use the By Terry Cellularose Brightening CC Lumi serum enough and I really should as it gives you an even glow and works to minimise the redness and dark sports, perfect for the sun exposure in Dubai! You can apply it alone or mix with foundation.

When it comes to blush I tend to go for a darker pink as you don’t need too much to achieve a rosy look. I’ve been using Bourjois in Rose Ambre, just take a brush and apply it in a Nike tick shape (great tip from a makeup artists I worked with on a TV show!)

It’s been all about contouring and strobing and I’m not much of a pro so this Diorblush Light & Contour Duo Stick from the fall collection is brilliant as it’s so easy to use! Apply the lighter part in a C shape round the eye as well as a little bit under the chin, and then use darker end below the cheeks in a line and just blend blend blend!

If you have small eyes like me then black smoky eye can be overwhelming so I had a lesson at Laura Mercier counter at achieving an evening look with just using the cream eyeshadow in Khaki. Fill the eyelid with the browny bronze shade and blend for an even finish, then take the brush along the lower lid for an easy smokey eye effect.

Have any of you ever been obsessed with eye shadow palettes? I haven’t used them in years but this new  Dior 5 Couleurs Skyline 506 have such beautiful shades and that’s reason enough to get back into them. Plus you can create such a variety of looks with just 5 of these colours!

I’m such a fan of a gel eyeliners as my hands aren’t steady enough for liquid and the pencil tends to fade too quickly. The Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Mono in Extreme Black has briefly replaced my Bobbi Brown fave and I’ve been very happy with the smoothness when applying it along the top lash line. Just make sure to use an angled brush and have q-tips to correct any mistakes.

How fun is this limited edition Illamsaqua lipstick in Lava LipsThe bullet design is brilliant and the shade comes out in a bright berry hue with touches of purple. I’m doing a separate lipstick post so you’ll be able to see what it looks like.

Any other new beauty products I should check out? Would love to hear your favourite in the comment box below x
