My prenatal take on the athleisure trend…
[dropcap]If[/dropcap] you’ve been following New York Fashion Week then you would’ve spotted the athleisure trend on both the runway (thank you Rihanna at Fenty x Puma) and the streets.
There is something so desirable about finding style that comes with heathy dose of comfort and now that I’m six-months pregnant – elevated activewear is right up my street.
Jeans feel to restricting and I refuse to buy mummy-to-be ones so trousers with a stretchy waistband are exactly what I can wear during and after the baby. These Sandro trousers feel lux and not only fit for work but can also be ideal for the evening. The contrast blue stripe stop the black trousers looking flat and allow you more options when it comes to styling.
You already know how obsessed I am with shirts and they are playing an even bigger part in my wardrobe as the waistline expands. I go for longer shapes as I find them the most flattering and look for detail like chunky cuffs, prints and most importantly fabric. Shirts need to feel good on your skin otherwise it is a waste so try them on and once you you find the perfect fit, then maybe buy a couple. The corset design on this shirt allowed you to play with how much you want to accentuate your figure.
You can add sneakers to complete the sporty look but for a touch of chic I’d go for pointed toe shoes as they really lengthen your legs.
I chose the Louis Vuitton petite malle for this look. It’s not the most functional of bags but it is a little piece of art and a great statement for the evening.
