What a year! Here is my 2017 roundup…
[dropcap]Holly[/dropcap] shit it’s the last day of 2017 with the new year knocking on the door with promises of something better. But before we welcome it in, its only right to look back on the last 12 months.
The biggest change in our life has been the arrival of baby Lola. I remember finding out I was pregnant in April and freaking out that in the same year we’ll have an actual child to look after. That seems like a very long time ago with the last month of pregnancy being particularly stressful as her movements reduced due to depleting placenta and she had to come out a little sooner. C-section sucks, especially when it takes them ages to perform the spinal injection, but any form of birth is tough. First few days of recovery were horrible but come day 5 I felt much better and am recovering well at home.
We are 3 weeks into parenthood and it’s exhausting. Her low birth weight requires extra feeding and attention, she’s better at sleeping during the day than night, we’ve had explosive poo’s, managed to go through 4 sets of clothing in one day and my boobs ache, BUT she’s the most incredible little bundle of happiness. Adores cuddles, surprisingly strong with the most beautiful blue eyes! There aren’t enough words to explain how much I love her; she is the greatest gift we could’ve received. There are moments when I have to question my sanity, hence my Bella Freud jumper with ‘I’ve Got This’ embroidered as a little reminder that it’s all going to be okay and I’m going to cherish every moment (even the sleepless nights).
Other highlights of 2017 include:
- Milan Fashion Week with my mum in February
- Starting my YouTube channel
- Adding another fluffy member to our family in shape of Ragnar
- Visiting Amsterdam for the first time
- Babymoon in the Seychelles
- Starting a new job as online editor of aeworld.com
I hope the new year bring you more than you can even imagine and may it be filled with laughter, adventure and above all LOVE. I’m grateful to each one of you who have followed my journey and I look forward to sharing my 2018 with you all.
Happy new year! X
