Throwing it back to The Duke of Edinburgh days
The North Face came into my life when I was 13 and nervously awaiting something called “hikes”. I was taken to an outdoors store (also a first) so the teachers could kit me out with everything I might need to walk up Snowdon (where?)
Fast forward to the day of the hike, I was scrambling up this ridiculous mountain, carrying a hiking bag half my size while trying to understand why this torture has even been allowed. Luckily my coat, hat and boots from The North Face kept me warm and semi-comfortable throughout the ordeal and became my trusty companions as I endured bronze, silver and gold DofE hikes.
I shudder at the memory of almost being blown off the side a cliff in the Brecon Beacons, but overall I fondly look back on the moments surrounded by nature and friends.
Now the trusty expedition gear has been given a fashionable makeover courtesy of Gucci. A range of puffer coats, boots, backpacks and accessories will feature The North Face logo that has been given a Gucci twist and evoke a retro vibe that never fails to hit the mark with the fans of the Italian house.
The collection has dropped in Selfridges but if you missed out or want the warmth without going in your overdraft, then head to The North Face website instead to shop my top picks below.
