This is an old fashion favourite but year after year it comes back in various styles making it one of the must have cover-ups for winter. Some are tailored and sleek; others feature slits so you can actually use your arms. Saint Laurent capes from their AW14 collection were my favourite (love the Topshop version!) but I also liked the look of The Row, Ralph Lauren and Sportmax.
My Louis Vuitton cape is ideal, it’s easy, cosy and comfy but there’s something theatrical about the silhouette that makes me feel all dressed up when I wear it (this one from Very has a similar effect). It is fitted on the body with pockets either side, and the wings are great for wrapping around when it gets cool.
Of course, jumper, skinny jeans and heeled boots are a natural choice (especially if you wear a longer style (like this one from Sister Jane) but you can always opt for printed pants, check would be my top choice from Jigsaw, or wool shorts and over knee boots.
I really wanted to inject a 70’s vibe with a wool mini skirt (similar ones from Oasis and Marks & Spencer) and knee high boots from Prada. This boot height has been hugely popular this winter and I found some good ones from Whistles and Kurt Geiger.
I kept everything neutral with a white Reiss roll neck as a cape is a grand-enough without the extra bright colours. I finally added a Zara fedora and giving the slightly restricted hand movements, the bag to carry handily is definitely a tote (Michael Kors and Marc by Marc Jacobs have good options).
beautiful cape!!

I’ve never wore cape in my entire life, but if it’s as chic as yours, I wouldn’t mind at all 🙂
