All you need for a perfect break in the sun…
In less than three days I will be on my way to the sunny Monte Carlo for my mums birthday and I literally can not wait! I’m in such a need of sun, sea and a good tan, plus I love to discover new places. To be honest, I have been there before but when I was 9 for a day and I can’t really remember it, so it will be good to see it all over again as well as explore Nice, Cannes and Sanremo (make sure to follow me on Snapchat).
When I start packing for a holiday, I grab a bunch of stuff from my wardrobe and then edit things out. I tend to take a different look for each day (a lot of shorts, tops and sandals) and night (mainly dresses and fun heels) as well as a couple of extras just in case I change my mind. I also pack a lot of bikini’s, so if I’m going somewhere for a week I will have seven of them with me as well as beach dresses and kaftans. I usually start my sunbathing ritual with strapless number like this one from ASOS or Marysia Swim so I can get a nice even tan with no strap lines, and then I can wear more fun options like this number from Mara Hoffman or Boohoo.
You’ll never catch me on a sun lounger without a massive beach bag next to it packed with a straw hat, a kindle, magazines, snacks, water, sunglasses, Havaianas flip flops, Dr. Dre Beats and sunscreen. I always apply factor 50 to face and body, it may sound high but I tan very easily which is fab but I’m prone to burning easily so a extra UVA and UVB protection is a must (I’ve been using Lancaster and Clarins for years). I also swear by Bumble and Bumble surf spray for my hair giving it that loose beachy waves and protecting from chlorine and salty seawater.
After-sun is hugely important for hydration and soothing of the skin and Garnier smells amazing and has a silky smooth texture. Makeup wise I try to keep it simple because heavy coverage blocks pores and it also fades quicker in hot weather. A bit of tinted mousturiser, bronzer, waterproof mascara (holds better in humid climates) and a bright lipstick from Shu Uemura is all I need, plus a spritz of either Chanel Chance or citrusy Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue.
