You’ll never get bored of them
Slingback shoes have been knocking around for decades – ever since Coco Chanel introduced the famed two-tone design in 1957 – and the appeal for these classics has not waivered.
Regularly spotted on the feet of the most stylish, this silhouette never fails to bring a sense of elegance to an outfit. Another appealing factor is that there isn’t just one shape to the slingback shoe. You can choose between heels or flat, neutral or colourful, round toe or point toe, leather or satin, and the list goes on.
The only thing you need to judge is the fit. When I first tried on a pair of Chanel’s most coveted pairs of shoes in my size, the strap kept slipping down my heel resulting in an uncomfortable fit. They have to feel snug to avoid the annoying sound of the shoe slapping against the foot as you walk.

I also found a round toe looks better with a slight heel while you can easily get away with a flat slingback shoe if you prefer a pointed toe silhouette – you’ll be amazed at how they elongate your legs.
The timeless slingbacks will look just as fabulous with a dress as they would with a pair of jeans, a shirt and a knitted blazer and below I have picked out some of the best styles that you can snap up at a fraction of the original price.
