Prepare to be dazzled
I have always taken a minimalist approach to jewellery and tend to wear the same pieces every day – my engagement ring, Cartier Love bracelet, a Rolex watch, JIAJIA crystal bracelet, hoop earrings and the Bvlgari Diva necklace.
Despite that, my appetite for precious gems is bigger than ever and I’m not alone. Several e-commerce platforms have seen an increase in fine jewellery purchases and I have personally noticed a take-up of contemporary names as well as the expansion of the demi-fine sector.
Gifting is always going to be relevant, not even a pandemic is going to stand in the way of engagements and anniversaries, but there is also an increased desire to invest in forever pieces for yourself – and you don’t get any more timeless than diamonds.
I’ve noticed that my wish list is gradually being taken over by established and emerging Maisons such as JIAJIA that specialises in minimalist crystals and EÉRA that took a simple hiking clip and turned into a neon statement piece.
Jewellery is a traditionalist industry but rules are being broken left, right and centre with brands clashing stoned, experimenting with placements, and introducing playful material like enamel or Murano glass (check out the Fendi Haute Couture show).
Moda Operandi is one of the top platforms to uncover new names or innovative designs and I have been spending a little bit of time curating my dazzling wish list. I had to include one of my favourite Lebanese jewellery houses L’Ateliar Nawbar as well as the fierce Fernando Jorge. Some are new to me and I hope you enjoy uncovering these unique gems below.
