My edit of wardrobe essentials that deliver each time! Plus, a new easy way to get rid of your pre-loved pieces
It took decades of shopping and three cities to finally see the true heroes of my wardrobe.
From trusty dresses to winter warmers, my selection grew with each new home and yet after several donations and mindless splurges, only a select edit remains.
Recently I signed up to a recycling concept launched by Thrift in partnership with a global online giant Farfetch. The precedent is simple. They send you a maximum of three bags that you fill up with unwanted pieces – high quality and in good condition – they go through the selection and resell the best. Half of the earnings go to you in a form of Farfetch credit to spend online, and the other half to your select charity. Any items that don’t meet their standards are donated to other charities, so it’s a win-win concept in my eyes.
Going through my wardrobe, the selection was pretty easy to make. Before I used to hold on to anything with a designer label even if I never wore it for one reason or another but now it felt liberating to let go of items that don’t serve me and won’t be something that Lola would wear. I am also as guilty as the next person at splurging during the sales and on the high street that end up pointlessly filling up the wardrobe when they can have a new home.
The clear-out felt like detox and I will definitely need a few more bags before it’s completely done but now I can look at my clothes and know that whatever I decide to wear I will feel good in.
Below I have listed some of the all-time essentials that I could never part with, no matter which corner of the world I’ll end up in.
