Flares may be the shape of the season but dont discard wide leg trousers just yet…
Inspired by the fashion spread in the January issue of Vogue (styled by Lucinda Chambers) the thought for this outfit was precision. Lucinda focused on dressing up ‘pared-back rigorous shapes’ and mixing the colours you wouldn’t expect to create a polished look, and to me that sounded wonderful!
After studying the shoot, I jumped onto Whistles website for a pair of lilac wide-leg trousers (you can get similar ones from Wes Gordon or alternatively check out DKNY or Michael Kors) and was excited to try out a new way to wear this shape. I could have styled them with an orange but decided to leave the bright colours for summer and instead play with layering and experiment with necklines and sleeve lengths. You can achieve a similar effect by wearing a Toga or Atterley Road top over a Hobbs roll neck (or opt for a white one for a fresh look) and maybe add a couple of bangles or a chunky necklace. I’m thinking of expanding my limited range of accessories by getting some pieces from Pebble London, I visited their showroom and it was full of incredible pieces from around the world!
I completed the look with my favourite bucket bag that are still on trend (especially with drawstrings) so have a look at Reiss and Rebecca Minkoff and finally, slip your feet into a pair of white courts from either River Island or Topshop.
