A skirt that works for everyone? Im sold!
Hey everyone, hows you’re week going? It’s been a couple of gorgeous summer days here in London but typically they are going to ruined by imminent heavy rain *sad face. So while there’s still chances of sunshine I am refusing my go-to-jeans and trusty trousers in favour of a skirt.
I’ve always been a dress person (hence the blog name) and liked the simplicity of them. I know it’s not rocker science, but sometimes that added effort of figuring out what top to wear with a skirt during the morning rush is just too much! But this season I’ve been swapping dresses for separates and actually like how a different top can completely transform a look. Midi is a classic silhouette and although it’s been trial and error to find the one that doesn’t overwhelm my petite figure, I do love their elegance and think with the right styling they can work for everyone!
Flattering facts: they nip you in at the waist, smooth out the hips and give your legs length (especially if you add heels). Midi’s are feminine but if you play with texture, colour and shape you can add a modern twist. I personally like the more edgy leather versions that you can style with a plaid shirt or throw on a comfy knit and boots for winter. This blue Tibi skirt has amazing texture (similar from Topshop) and works perfectly with a structured top as well as ankle strap block heels. But don’t be afraid to play with bolder colours as this coming season ‘crayon shades’ are in!
My most recent addiction are the button down denim skirts that have been all over the catwalk and the high street. I’ll be sharing the top look with you very soon but you can either approach it from a ladylike side with a pretty cropped jacket and blouse or opt for a logo T-shirt, a biker and point toe ankle boots for a more casual vibe.

Let me count the ways, oh wait……they’re endless and isn’t that what’s so fun about fashion and personal style. I love your Tibi/Zara mix. One of my favorite designers and one of my favorite low-end (but fabulous) stores. Love this post. I actually did a midi post myself on Monday. Must be something in the fashion winds. 🙂

Midi skirts are so feminine and you’re right that playing with textures or colors is a fun way to keep the look interesting.
