Hey guys, hope you all had a lovely weekend! We had a great time at Frieze London and saw some amazing modern works of art from artists such as Bridget Riley, Howard Hodgkin and Lee Ufan, as well as stunning pieces from Pablo Picasso and Claude Monet. Dungarees were something that I used to associate with art, be it working on some small creative project or doing a bit of house decorating, but over the past few seasons they have become something of a fashion statement.
Denim has been the most popular choice over the summer months but its time to switch it up and inject some dork. One of my favourite styles for the AW15 is the geek trend which was seen Gucci and what I loved is the mixture of feminine and masculine pieces, so I decided to use that as my inspiration. I bought these Rag & Bone dungarees in New York (similar from Alexander Wang and ASOS) and loved wearing them with T-shirts, but for the colder months Im going to be a Gucci girl by adding a ruffled blouse and some manly brogues (I just need some bold specs and knit bobble hat!).
The blouse has had a renaissance over the last couple of seasons firstly encouraged by our affair with the seventies and now the eighties. It’s no longer seen as prim and proper, it’s more about the romance when you mix the canvas florals with a satin shine and some frills, check out Topshop and Sonia Rykiel for inspiration. To counterbalance the flirty vibe, I added some bulky brogues which I had for years (Im actually in desperate need of Gucci loafers!) but I’m also loving ASOS and Grenson.
Let me know what you think about the look in the comment box below! Are you letting your inner geek shine through this winter? xxx
Love how you mixed a frilly floral blouse with it. Gives it a slightly 70s vibe. So pretty!

I always loved the dungarees styled a bit geeky instead of in its most expected form! You did a great job! Love that floral blouse on you! 🙂
