High street alternatives to the Bottega Veneta padded Cassette bag

Hottest bag of 2020 so far

It takes something truly amazing to make my husband spontaneously buy me a handbag. When he saw my Bottega Veneta BV Tire boots he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at their “hideousness”, but it was a different scenario when he saw the padded Cassette bag.

He isn’t the only one to see it’s appeal. The cushiony handbag that comes in a variety of finishes and colours is one of the hottest items of 2020 so far, according to search engine Lyst that tracks spending habits online.

The Cassette has also made it into the wardrobes of some of the most influential fashionistas and has been celebrated by editors across the world, from Harrods to Harper’s Bazaar.

My husband opted for the baby blue version and just like your trusty pair of jeans, this spongy beauty goes with everything, from black leather to burgundy knits.

It’s spacious and light but I do find that the shoulder strap slips off so you either need to add some weight or wear it cross-body.

The high street has been quick to embrace the quilted bag design and below I have tracked down some impressive interpretations to shop now.
