Hey everyone! I’m sure most of you are enjoying a long weekend while here in Dubai we are on day three of Ramadan, which is challenging time for those fasting but on a positive note, it means shorter working hours. For those of you who are not familiar, or thinking of traveling here over the next 4 weeks, note that you do have to dress more modestly, don’t chew, smoke or drink in public and use designated space for any of those. You won’t notice it so much in the hotels and many of the restaurants are open as usual. It may seem extreme, but t’s actually a great time of year when everyone is a little bit calmer, kinder and there are plenty of great Iftars to check out.
In other news, we are moving house soon! We have been living near the Burj Khalifa for almost a year which has been amazing in terms of being able to walk to lots of places, but two dogs in a one-bedroom flat is feeling a little claustrophobic so we found somewhere with more space and most importantly a garden. Cant wait to take you on a virtual tour!
Now on to todays post. You will get tired of me saying this, but it’s getting disgustingly hot in the desert and don’t get me started on the humidity. As I’ve mentioned above, you need to dress a bit more discretely during Ramadan so knowing a few easy layering tricks is always helpful. I love styling sheer tops under dresses, lace shirts with off shoulder tops and in the case an oversized shirt over a tee.
Pick a larger white button down shirt (or borrow from the boys) so you can pull it down over the shoulders and opt for your favourite logo top to wear underneath. Skinny jeans are a no no for anywhere humid so choose distressed loose denim and don’t forget easy slip on shoes, statement bag and colourful sunnies.

Thank you Melanie x
I love your awesome layering! It’s true that we sometimes forget that layering doesn’t have to mean sweaters and jackets and you creatively layer even with that horrible heat!
