When we moved to UAE from gloomy London I decided to leave a few items behind such as an umbrella, tights and boots. Let me tell you now that you do actually still need all those things (brolly becomes a sun protector and tights keep the goose bumps at bay from the AC) but today I’m focusing on boots. It was a pleasant surprise to see how much of my cold weather wardrobe can work in Dubai and I’m so happy that I don’t have to say goodbye to some of my favourite winter shoes.

Obviously you can’t wear any with a shearling lining and over-the-knee style can seem a bit too much (though I’ve spotted some people rock them!) so I narrowed it down to 6 pairs that can work for Dubai. Biker boots partner well with skirts and give your look an edge and suede lasts longer as you don’t have the rain to worry about. Statement boots with a bold heel replace your stilettos once the weather cools down, while a bright or metallic styles can be worn pretty much all year round. My new favourites are these white boots with a silver heel from Proenza Schouler which would not have stayed white in London!

Note that they are all ankle height, I think anything higher (unless it’s a sock boot) will feel too heavy. Also go for thin leather options as you really don’t need anything heavy duty.
