Snow, ski and spa…
Winter in Austria became somewhat of a family tradition, especially staying at a very classic but grand hotel Astoria in a small village of Seefeld. With an incredible spa (saunas, water beds and fireplaces) as well as indoor and outdoor thermal pools overlooking the Austrian Alps, a good variety of food and a short walk downhill to all the skiing action, it’s an ideal place for beginners like myself.
Several times I have tried and failed to achieve any success snowboarding, I don’t even know why I bothered as I always got taught by some smug 18-year-old and spent most of the time on my butt! So I decided to try skiing and oh my god, it is so easy! In comparison to having two legs stuck to the board and going sideways downhill, skiing is incredible and I didn’t fall once during my first lesson, winner!
Back to the hotel! Our room was spacious and had an amazing view on the snowy hills and despite not having the most amazing food, we were never left hungry and the service was spot on. There isn’t too much to do in the quaint village (there are a couple of good bars and restaurants) but when you have incredible surroundings, three great slopes to spend a whole day at and then chill at the spa in the afternoon its a perfect ski break.
